Man On A Ledge

Man on a Ledge is a good movie. I was entertained from beginning to end. First off, the characters are great. You root for the heroes and want the bad guys to get theirs. You can't go wrong, with Ed Harris playing the main villain. Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks do great with their parts, but it was the chemistry between Jamie Bell and Genesis Rodriguez that really won me over. Now, I don't feel this is necessarily a movie made for the big screen. It's like a REALLY good made for TV movie (probably on TNT), but this is why I also don't think you'll be disappointed. Maybe if you pay full price, but maybe not. Now the twist isn't too hard to figure out, but it didn't matter. I give this movie a solid 4 out of 5. Best movie I've seen on the big screen this year.

Contraband

Contraband was a good movie. I was entertained. The problem is, it didn't stick with me. The action is good and the pacing was good, but as I look back, nothing was really new and exciting. I was disappointed with the retribution of the movie on all accounts. I have to admit, Giovanni Ribisi did a FANTASTIC job with his role. I wanted to smash him. My best laugh came at J.K. Simmons benefit, so he did good too. Seeing this movie in theaters is not necessarily a must in my opinion. I definitely wouldn't pay full price. Good rental, but nothing I would buy. This would be a great Showtime series, maybe not the best cinematic film. I give it a 3 out of 5. It doesn't deserve a 2. It's a solid 3.

The Vow

So this one is for the ladies. The Vow is a fun and entertaining romance movie. Yes, it’s a standard chick flick, and yes fellas may get a few extra brownie points for taking their ladies. But not to worry guys, it’s not the typical Rachel McAdams tear-jerker. The story is just as the trailer leads you to believe; the girl loses her memory and the guy does everything he can to make her fall back in love with him. During the movie I was able to identify with the male character played by Channing Tatum, in regards to how I would feel if anything like this were to happen to me in real life. That being said, I found that the situations and outcomes in the film were true to real life scenarios. The movie is one of the best romance movies I’ve seen lately, and being married I have seen a few. All-in-all, while your boyfriend, husband, fiancé or any other guy may take you to see this movie for the extra brownie points, he may just find himself entertained.

RATING:
Filming - 3 out of 5
Story - 3 out of 5
Acting - 3 out of 5
Entertainment - 3 out of 5
Over All – 3 out of 5

Best Line: “Are you trying to make me diabetic, or just fat?”

NOTE: This movie should not be compared with the rating I gave The Grey, as these are two different movie genres.

The Grey

The Grey was such a good movie. The raw survival aspect of the film was incredible. The filming was great and was shot to be in “survival” mode. In some of the action sequences the camera moves around a lot and makes it a little harder to keep up with what’s going on. The movie has the best plane crash scene I have ever seen in a movie, which I previously said about The
Passengers. For the plane scene, I would suggest you view it with a good audio system because I literally had butterflies when the plane made its sudden drop due to the audio quality in the theater. The story is solid and is based off the short story "Ghostwalker". The film is relatively straight forward; the plane crashes, people survived, wolves start killing them, and Liam Neeson becomes a hardcore wolf slayer. There is one twist in the movie, but anyone who is actually paying attention to the film will see this twist coming early on. This movie was awesome and I would suggest going out and seeing this in a movie theater as soon as you can. For everyone that’s wanting to know, you have to wait a long time to see Liam fist fight the Alpha wolf leader.

RATING:
Filming - 3 out of 5
Story - 3 out of 5
Acting - 3 out of 5
Entertainment - 3 out of 5

Make sure you stay for the clip after the credits. A lot of people where disappointed by it in the theater, but I thought it summed everything up.

Act Of Valor

Growing up I never met my grandfather. Everyone told me he was a hero and it made me proud. As a kid my step-grandpa, Jerry was a member of the American Legion and he signed me up for Sons of the American Legion. I learned a lot about what ...it was like to be a veteran, from the folks that took care of me, but nothing they said could have prepared me for this film. This was a great movie. A movie, I believe possibly worth the full ticket price. You definitely HAVE to see it the theater. don't think there's a home theater out there to do it justice. Couple of things. This movie stars Navy Seals. The acting shows it, but it didn't matter. Also, some scenes are pretty intense, with LIVE ammo in certain shots. I left the theater in silence, almost stunned by what I saw, but I also now feel VERY protected and blessed. I wish the world wasn't so messed up, but I'm glad we have men like these defending us.

I would give this movie a 3 out of 5, but it's almost a 4. I STRONGLY suggest that everyone go out and see this film, so they make more like it.

Red Tails

So let’s talk airplanes… anyone who knows me knows I love airplanes and with that they know the P-51 is my favorite. So when George Lucas decided to make a film on the legendary Tuskegee Airmen I was all over it. The film is set in the later years of the fighter pilots and if you don’t already know a lot of their back story you won’t find it within the movie. What you will find are missions the te...am is most famous for such as the longest bomb run in WWII and the one and only destroyer they ever sank. The film started with what I consider one of the worst dog fighting scenes I have ever seen, it had a horrible script and the opening credits where both distracting and unappealing. The overall acting in this film was as expected from the majority of the cast and the best scenes took place while they were on the ground. The interaction between the Tuskegee airmen and the bomber plane crew they escort in the movie was dull and unbelievable. The movie also portrayed a relationship between a nice Italian girl and one of the airmen. This, like much of the movie left me wondering, would people actually talk like this to one another? With all of the negatives I have in this review I will say the movie was entertaining. Once you get past the opening scene, the rest of the dog fights where action-packed and watching a P-51 in combat is a sight to behold. All in all, I would give this film 2 out 5. No need to rush out to see this one.See More
